Third party authority

A third party authority is a short-term agreement between you (‘the donor’) and someone you trust (the ‘nominee’) to access your Cashplus accounts on your behalf. This could be a family member or close friend who can access your bank accounts and pay bills or withdraw money on your behalf.

  • A third party authority is a short-term agreement between you and someone you trust (the ‘nominee’). This could be a family member or close friend who can access your bank accounts and pay bills or withdraw money on your behalf.

✔️ You can cancel the agreement whenever you like.

✔️ A third party authority agreement only lasts while the donor is alive.

✔️ It doesn’t have to be registered with the authorities.

✔️ Your nominee doesn’t have to bank with us, but we will need to keep a record of their details.

  • You should choose people you trust, such as family members or close friends. Remember, your third party will have access to your bank account, so you’ll be responsible for any withdrawals they make on your account.

If you no longer want them to have access to your money, it’s important that you contact us immediately so we can remove them from your account.

Your third party don’t have to bank with us, but we will need to keep a record of their details.

Before you set up a third party, make sure they meet the following criteria.

✔️ Your nominee must be aged 18 or over.

✔️ They need to have mental capacity – if either lose mental capacity the authority will no longer be valid and will be cancelled.

  • A third party can

    • request a balance or discuss transactions
    • request a statement to be sent to the registered address.

    A third party cannot:

    • change the account holder’s details like account name, address or contact phone number
    • close the account
    • change the account type or pricing
    • apply for credit products or
    • change card details.
  • To register third party authority, you’ll need to call our team to notify us and we’ll send you an 'Authorise to Discuss Form’. Once you complete this form, please mail it to us.

We’ve outlined the process for registering a third party here.
